Grythyttan grew up in the Dark Ages around the iron deposits found in the region. Who could have known that hundreds of years later its cooking would see Grythyttan enjoying an international reputation? In between, the town also managed to fit in a brief period as a silver centre. The gleam of silver soon tarnished, however, and the village´s fortunes were only revived by the stainless sheen of saucepans and culinary expertise. Gastronomy Centre
Today the gastronomy centre Måltidens Hus and Grythyttan Inn attract plenty of visitors every year. Grythyttan is where Sweden's foodies are trained and it shows! The area is full of culinary surprises, more strawberries and champagne than sausages and beer. Måltidens Hus is also an architectural gem, originally Sweden's pavilion at the Seville Expo in 1992.Loka Spa
More traditional delights are to be found in the classic Bergslagen setting of Grythyttan itself and the spa at Loka, an ideal place to come and recharge your batteries. Loka has been in the wellbeing business for hundreds of years and boasts a world-famous water said to refresh the soul. Let your body decide, it usually knows best.Read more at:
